Following a series of meetings between TTOH Founder Cathy Carilli and key Congressional leaders, on November 2nd the US House of Representative unanimously passed H.Res.291, a bill sponsored by Congressman Alcee Hastings (D-FL) that promotes the increased use of service dogs in helping wounded veterans live more independent lives. The bill also recognizes The Tower of Hope’s contribution to this effort through its work to raise funds to train service dogs and provide them free of charge to service men and women disabled in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. A similar bill (S.Res.115) sponsored by Senator Joseph Lieberman (IND-CT) has recently been introduced in the US Senate. More . . .
