Volunteer in the Spotlight

TTOH

In this issue, Robin Klein is our Volunteer in the Spotlight. Robin has gone above and beyond her duties as the Secretary of our Board of Directors and truly exemplifies the qualities a Foundation looks for when working with volunteers. We had a chance to catch up with Robin this spring and she filled us in, below, on her involvement with TTOH and more.

I first learned about TTOH from my friends who are founding members of TTOH, Cathy Carilli and Mark Filipkowski. My husband, John, and I were considering establishing a Foundation to benefit both people and animals. When Cathy and Mark explained their vision, we thought this would be a perfect opportunity to do something more with a charitable cause than just writing a check.

My love of animals certainly was one of the determining factors, but ultimately, it was my friendship with Cathy and Mark and wishing to be a part of something so monumental that lead to my taking a leadership position on the Board of TTOH. In this position, I assist with the building of the Foundation and exposing this wonderful cause to as many people and organizations as possible. I think my major accomplishments with this organization thus far have been assisting in the development of several aspects of the Foundation, including the mission statement, the name of the organization, the logo and playing a part in the success of our first annual fundraising gala, Lighting the Path.

My best memory, so far, of working with TTOH was our first Board meeting last summer and Lighting the Path. I plan to continue to generate interest in the Foundation, recruit people to work with us and seek additional means to raise money for granting opportunities for TTOH this year.

On a personal note, I am 48 years-old and have a B.S. in Business Administration. I am a Certified Shopping Center Manager, an accreditation received through our trade industry, the International Council of Shopping Centers. I have been in the commercial real estate industry my entire career (25+ years); many years as a developer; now as a real estate consultant to retailers. In my free time, I love doing ANYTHING outdoors with my family and friends - boating, hiking, biking, water & snow skiing; and I love working with The Tower of Hope!
